We lived in a world that often values community and social connection, a world where solitude can seem like a foreign concept to many. However, solitude is not just about being alone; it’s about finding strength in the time or period of stillness, and this concept can be apply to our everyday lives.

As the Bible says, “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). Be ready as we’ll be exploring together what it means to find strength in solitude, and how this concept can be applied to our every day lives.

What Does Strength in Solitude Mean?

Strength in solitude can been seen as the ability to find inner peace, clarity about life, and resilience in moments of alone-ness. Strength in solitude It’s about cultivating a sense of self-awareness, self-sufficiency, and faith that allows us to overcome life’s challenges and problems with boldness and confidence.

According to the scripture, apostle Paul wrote, “I can do all this through Christ who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13). When we find strength in solitude, we’re not relying on external sources of validation or comfort; we’re drawing from a deeper well of inner strength, “which is our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ”.

Does Solitude Make You Stronger?

This is a good question, which most believers don’t have answers to. Yes, solitude can make you stronger. When we’re alone, is actually the best time for you to stay focus and determine, Solitude can forced us to confront our thoughts, emotions, and fears. This confrontation can be uncomfortable, but it’s also a catalyst for spiritual growth and development.

As Jesus said, “The kingdom of God is within you” (Luke 17:21). Is only When we’re alone, we have the opportunity to tap into this inner kingdom, and explore our values, passions, and purpose. That moment you shutdown every form of distraction within your surroundings, it will be your best time to discover your God given purpose to pursue it at all cost.

How to Build Strength in Solitude?

Before one can think about building strength in solitude he/she have to to be intentional about it, this is because Solitude requires intentionality, discipline, and patience, without the aforementioned above it will be very difficult to build strength in solitude. Below are some of the few strategies that can help a believer build strength in solitude.

  1. Scheduled a lone-time: Set aside a particular day and time out of the week to be alone. At this time, you will shutdown every form of distraction, it will just be you and God, no other third person is welcome, during that particular time.
  2. Practice Mindfulness and meditation: When practising mindfulness, you focus on your breath, body, or surroundings and let go of worries about the past or future.
  3. Reflect on your values and goals: use Solitude period as an opportunity to discover your dream, passion and purpose. Utilize that time to discover who you are, and your God divine purpose on earth.
  4. Study the Scripture to seek guidance and direction: this should be the number one strategy, during the time of solitude, let the word of God be your only guidance. Study and meditate on biblical teachings, while you are doing that, you will build strength and ability to withstand every storm, challenges and adversity in the future.

Why is Solitude Powerful?

So many reasons why Solitude is considered as a powerful period of a man’s life.

  1. During the time of solitude you will have the opportunity to recharge and refresh: Solitude gives you the opportunity to rest, gain gain strength and refocus.
  2. Gain Clarity about life: Alone time will help you to process your thoughts, emotions, and experiences, thus you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and the world around you. During the time of solitude you gain more clarity about life and your God divine purpose.
  3. You will build and develop self awareness and self sufficiency: Time of Solitude is the best to build and develop self awareness, time of solitude forces you to confront your strengths, weaknesses, and limitations, and to develop a greater sense of self-awareness and self-sufficiency.

As the word of God says Bible, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11). When we find strength in solitude, we’re not just building our own resilience; we’re also trusting in God’s plan for our lives.

In conclusion, finding strength in solitude is a powerful way to cultivate inner peace, get clarity about life, and build resilience. By embracing alone time with ourselves reflecting on our values and goals, and seeking guidance from Scripture, we can tap into a deeper well of strength and purpose.
