The Power of Words

The Power of Words

Not every thought that crosses our minds deserves to be expressed. In the book of Proverb 18:21, it said “Life and death are in the power of the tongue”. It’s vital that we speak life-giving words, rather than those that might harm or hinder us from our blessings.

To achieve this, we must learn to replace thoughts that are not beneficial with the truth rooted in God’s Word. As it’s written, “God is not a man, that He should lie” (Numbers 23:19). In contrast, humans are prone to deception – even self-deception. Believing a lie can be dangerous, as we tend to defend what we believe. Defending a falsehood is, in essence, working against God.

While this may seem surprising, it’s a widespread occurrence. As the Bible said, “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Proverbs 14:12). Let us strive to discern the truth and follow the right path.

May we choose to speak life and align our thoughts with God’s Word in Jesus name, Amen!
