The world today is filled with so much uncertainty and chaos, these make it so easy for some one to lose hope and faith, most especially if he/she haven’t accept the Lord ship of Jesus Christ. But as devoted and committed Christians, we have a unique advantage – our hope is anchored in Christ. We should always have this mentality rooted deep within us “whatever we are passing through as believers, is not the end of it all”, The true hope of all christians is Jesus Christ our Lord and savior. In this deep biblical content, i will take you what it means to have unshakable hope and how we can cultivate it in our christian Journey and daily lives.
What is Hope?
Before we dive into the concept of unshakable hope, let’s define what hope is. Hope is the confident expectation of a positive outcome. It’s the assurance that something good is going to happen, even if we can’t see it yet.
In the scripture, hope is often linked with faith and trust. In Hebrews 11:1, we read, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” (NIV)
The Problem with Human Hope
While hope is essential for our well-being, human hope can be fragile and fleeting. We place our hope in things that are uncertain and unreliable – our jobs, our relationships, our health. But when these things fail us, our hope become shaken. This was because our hope was never on the one who created these things, but the moment we shift it to the maker of the one who created those things, our hope will become unshakable. We need an unshakable hope as Christians. As believers we need a more stable foundation for our hope. We need a hope that is unshakable, unwavering, and unrelenting.
The Anchor of Hope
In Hebrews 6:19-20, the scripture read, “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf.” (NIV) in this chapter of the bible, the writer of Hebrews uses the metaphor of an anchor to describe hope. An anchor is a device that stabilizes a ship in turbulent waters. Similarly, hope anchors our souls in the midst of life’s storms. But what makes this anchor so secure? The answer lies in the fact that our hope is anchored in Christ. Jesus has entered the inner sanctuary on our behalf, securing our hope and guaranteeing our future.
Cultivating Unshakable Hope
So, how can we cultivate unshakable hope in our lives as believers? Here are a few practical steps on how to cultivate unshakeable hope:
- Meditate on God’s word and His promises: The Bible is filled with promises that can give us hope. Meditate on these promises and claim them for yourself.
- Focused on God and His Character: Rather than focusing on our circumstances, we need to focus on God’s character. He is faithful, loving, and sovereign.
- Practise Gratitude: Gratitude can help us shift our focus from our problems to God’s blessings. Practice gratitude by keeping a journal or sharing your thanks with a friend.
- Surround your self with hope filled community of believers: The people we surround ourselves with can either drain or fuel our hope. Surround yourself with people who encourage and support you on your christianity journey.
